Foxy Box Poco Opens Soon!

Poco are you ready to experience the best waxing and laser hair removal? We’re sad to say goodbye to the summer (which only lasted several seconds this year, am I right?), but we have a really busy and exciting fall season coming up here at Foxy HQ!  In November, our first location on the mainland opens up in Port Coquitlam! We’ve spent the last 8 years establishing our shops as the #1 destination on the island for the BEST Brazilian wax ever, and now it’s time to bring the Foxy movement to the mainland! That’s right, the best waxing and laser hair removal is coming to you Tri Cities! We sat down with our Port Coquitlam Franchise Partner Joanna to check in and see what life after joining the Foxy Family looks like, how she’s feeling about becoming a business owner and what drew her to our brand in the first place…

How did you know Foxy Box was the right company for you?

I was instantly drawn to the positive culture that Foxy Box exudes! I found myself connected to what the company represents, the comfortable atmosphere that they provide to both customers and staff, and the fact that female empowerment is at the forefront. I found that their beliefs lined up with mine, which is something that I really value. I feel as though this is a company that I can grow with. 

How did you know Port Coquitlam was the right place for a Foxy Box? 

Having grown up in the Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam neighbourhood, I am very familiar with the local community and believe that Foxy Box can thrive in this setting. I have witnessed the vast stages of growth in this city, and it has taught me that new businesses are embraced and welcomed. I am confident that the current demographic and central location of the business will play a role in its success. Plus, I know the people of Poco will love having the best waxing and laser hair removal experience right at their doorstep!

What inspired you to join a Franchise?

I have always aspired to be a leader and run my own business, and understand the great efforts made to achieve this goal. A franchise offers the best of both worlds, by providing me with structure and continuous support along the process. 

What are you enjoying most about this pre-open phase?

It is certainly an exciting time anticipating the launch of Foxy Box, and all of the wonderful things to come. During this time, I have taken the opportunity to soak up as much knowledge as I can and I’m loving it! I find it very rewarding to be a part of the entire process and am looking forward to what my future holds.

What is the vision you hold in your heart for your shop?  

I see a team of individuals who share the same drive, motivation, and passion to sustain the business. I imagine an environment where customers look forward to their visits with us, where they feel at ease, and also where staff take pride in their work. I want to provide a pleasant environment – a haven!

What advice or wisdom would you share with other women hoping to become entrepreneurs?

Don’t let anyone dim your light. Be bold, be optimistic, challenge yourself and take chances. Every successful business started with an idea or a dream and the will to achieve it. It’s important to remind yourself that absolutely anything is possible. If you have a passion for becoming a business owner, just do it! A powerful quote has always stood out to me: “opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don’t recognize them.”

Can you share one of your favourite memories since signing on with Foxy?

Without a doubt, my most memorable moment was officially signing the franchise agreement and getting my hands on those keys! It was a huge milestone in my life and something that I will forever cherish. This special day was shared with loved ones, and I can only explain it as a once in a lifetime experience.

What have you learned about yourself on this journey with Foxy?

I feel that as people we are constantly evolving and changing based on what life brings us. This journey has helped me discover a stronger and more determined me. Someone who is capable of much more than I thought I was! I feel like I’ve become a more diverse and open individual.

What do YOU bring to the Foxy brand?  How would you describe your presence as a leader?

As an experienced aesthetician of over 15 years, I bring a wealth of industry knowledge, creativity and most importantly passion! As a leader I feel that  I am confident yet supportive. This balance allows others to feel comfortable with me, while still maintaining respect and professionalism. I  have a good balance of both teacher and listener, and take pride in helping others become better versions of themselves.
